Ontario Will Lead Canada and the World Again
TORONTO — Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak today outlined a positive vision to make Ontario a leader again by creating jobs, bringing tax relief, and controlling government spending.
At a speech in Toronto today to the Canadian and Empire Clubs, Hudak said he would give Ontario families relief by lowering income taxes, permitting income sharing, and removing the HST off hydro and home heating bills.
Hudak will invest in priority services – health care and education – while finding savings of two cents on each dollar elsewhere. He will free employers to create jobs by making business taxes competitive, reducing government red tape, and creating 200,000 new apprenticeship jobs.
Ontario families can’t afford four more years of Dalton McGuinty and policies that will cause Ontario to fall further behind. Tim Hudak believes Ontario’s best days are yet to come. Changebook, his positive, practical plan to create jobs, end government waste, and give families relief, will make Ontario a leader in Canada and the world again.
QUOTES:
“Dalton McGuinty’s politics and policies are rooted in the assumption and acceptance of decline. We just cannot afford four more years of Dalton McGuinty. Ontario’s best days are ahead, and that with the support rather than the hindrance of government, it is the people themselves who will make this true.”
–Tim Hudak, Ontario PC Leader
“Ontario has an abundance of natural resources, countless entrepreneurs and talented workers. We can’t afford four more years of the same. We can make a different choice. We can decide that when our economy grows, family incomes can grow faster than the burden of government. That is why I am asking Ontario families to vote for change.”
–Tim Hudak, Ontario PC Leader
QUICK FACTS:
- To give Ontario families relief, a Tim Hudak government will remove the HST from hydro and home heating bills, and the Debt Retirement Charge from hydro bills, for savings of $275 for a typical household. Our income sharing plan will make the tax system more fair for families and put $476 or more back into the pockets of a typical dual-income family. And by lowering income taxes 5% on the first $75,000 of taxable income for middle-class families, a typical taxpayer will have $258 more to spend on their own priorities.
- After pledging he wouldn’t raise taxes on families, Dalton McGuinty ushered in the largest income tax hike in Ontario history (with the so-called health tax) and the largest sales tax hike in Ontario history (with the HST), and still managed to run record deficits and double Ontario’s debt.
